There are messy celebrity divorces, and then there’s the ongoing drama between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The former couple have been in a legal battle for years, which has heated up now that the Virginia libel case went to trial. The two actors spoke recently, and went viral as a result. And other reports detailing Depp’s crazy spending habits have come to light thanks to the defamation lawsuit.
The action in the courtroom has been going on for weeks now, with Johnny Depp, Amber Heard and other witnesses painting a picture of the former couple’s tumultuous relationship. the Pirates of the Caribbean the star’s former chief financial officer, Joel Mandel, recently testified via a pre-recorded deposition, where he revealed the the money that was lost by Depp. By Initiatedthe actor made $600 million between 1999 and 2016. So how exactly did he spend it all?
According to Joel Mandel, there were a number of super expensive factors in Johnny Depp that allegedly blew his millions. According to him, the spending got really out of hand when Depp and Amber Heard got together in 2010. Mandel claims Depp spent $100,000 every month on a doctor named David Kipper, who was there to help with his addiction issues. An additional $300,000 was spent each month on the actor’s staff, which included assistants and property managers. Finally, $10,000 was spent on security every day.
Considering some of his monthly expenses, it makes more sense that Johnny Depp’s fortunes have dwindled over the years. Amber Heard’s name was reportedly included in some of those crazy expenses, including a $160,000 wine bill before their marriage ended.
According to Joel Mandel’s testimony, Johnny Depp’s financial situation did not happen due to donate a large sum of money to charity. As he explained,
I don’t remember writing big charity checks. It was more his style to show up at an event or lend his name something rather than write a check.
Obviously, Johnny Depp was spending a crazy amount of money every month, which is why his millions of dollars have dwindled over the years. This apparently makes the financial stakes of his defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard all the higher. Depp is suing his ex-wife for $50 million, as she countersue for even more money. It remains to be seen where the jury stands on the situation.
