God of War Ragnarok’s Latest Clip Sparks Debate Over Graphics Downgrade
While some fans added that the newly added blue tint made the whole scene look slightly more realistic and cohesive, the majority of them weren’t too happy with the changes in God of War Ragnarok. The blue tint was attributed by many to the snowy weather in the scene, but players later pointed out that it was far from what a real snowy environment looks like.
One notable difference is the tattoo on Atreus’ neck, which is barely legible in the latest video. On the contrary, we can see the tattoo quite well in the previous video, and we can even distinguish the figures without any problem. Kratos and Atreus’ facial features were also much worse in the new video, with the previous one being praised for much sharper and more detailed visuals.
The difference in resolution of the two God of War Ragnarok the videos could have contributed to the stark difference in the graphics of the two games, but there are many other aspects that have been changed in the latest video, which includes but is not limited to the blue filter. That being said, the game is still a long way from launch, and given that PlayStation has never been disappointed with the graphics of its first-party titles, we should also keep our expectations high this time around.
